The many poses of Oscar (aged 3 ½)
September 3rd, 2015Hey; Look at me!
February 5th, 2013Daddyyy
August 31st, 2012When I got home from work last night, Oscar saw me from the kitchen and, for the first time, came running and shouting to the door to meet me! It’s the most touching ‘first time’, yet.
Although, ‘running and shouting’ was more ‘grunting and dragging himself across the floor at a glacial rate’. He made it half way before I gave in and stepped to him.
Back to work
February 20th, 2012I was back at work today, having spent two weeks with Caroline and Oscar. We’ve had lots of fun and had lots of visitors. Thanks, everyone for coming to see Oscar and helping with cooking and washing (and also for not overwhelming us!)
Oscar’s still doing really well. He has big sleeps, big feeds and big awake-and-looking times. He’s definitely looking at faces lots recently, and likes looking at black-and-white objects (like the cups you can see in the third pic below.) I can’t tell if he likes cuddles – he seems just as happy lying down as being held. He makes all sorts of funny noises and has lots of faces, but we don’t know what the faces mean.

February 6th, 2012Explanation of stages of labour
February 3rd, 2012This whole pregnancy thing is soo complicated, and explanations are soo varied. We’ve pieced together what’s happening.
This post sums it up pretty well. There are three stages to labour.
- build up
- pushing and birth
- delivering the placenta
The first stage has multiple phases (2 or 3 depending who you ask), but given how variable it all is, the distinction between the two phases of the first stage seems somewhat arbitrary.
Anyway, Caroline has been having irregular contractions for a few days, but because Oscar is a little bit back-to-back she feels the contractions in her back, rather than her front. They’ve been fairly strong since yesterday evening.
We don’t know how long it’ll be before we need to go to hospital. It could be in a few hours, or maybe I’ll be back at work on Monday and we’ll still be waiting! (Every day this week it’s been a surprise that I’m at work.)
For now, we’re gonna chill and play Lego Star Wars (in short bursts between contractions).
